alights guys i got it started but something is wierd. i went back out after doing the search option on other peoples starter problems. I tried three times to start it and it just clicked on the fourth tie it turned over a couple times then clicked. I tried again and it fired up like normal. i probley tried 5 times of shutting it off after it started of killing it and firing it back up and it worked like normal. does that sound like it could be the starter contacts. i checked the codes, they showed nothing

How many Miles on your truck. Sounds like the contacts are bad. About an hour job with the right tools. Nothing like being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a bad starter. You could probably get a rebuilt for $200 and just do it. $35 or less for contacts.

Mine jambed the starter and it ran untill it burned up. I never heard it run or saw any thing on voltmeter. Killed new batteries too.

Good idea. I'm 95% sure that's your problem, but if not, it's just one less thing to go wrong later.
