For the first time since I have owned the truck, the trans temp light came on while plowing snow.
Since I always turn off the OD when I get in the truck, I didn't realize it was also coming on at the same time.
Found out today when I got in the truck while talking on the phone, and didn't turn off the OD.
Driving down the road, Trans temp light comes on, engine temp is just above 140*. I notice that the trans temp light goes off and so does the OD light.
After a few times on/off I notice that they are coming on and turning off simultaneously.
Called the trans shop and he says bring it by in the am, he'll check it out.

Anyone ever had this happen??

They will get hot faster if low on fluid...hows the level?

 

That was the first thing that I checked, it's full.
Hoping it's a bad connection somewhere, will find out tomorrow when it goes to the trans shop

 

Have heard from a trans shop that the cooler lines comming from the cooler goes back in the od unit. If these lines get clogged it will cause the trans to overheat and the od unit can go out. This is why I put a gauge in my old 93 that didnt have the warning light. Also the onowers manual says that when the light comes on it locks it out of od till it cools back off. Hope this helps.
