Unhappy sputter

For the last 2 days after having run my truck for about an hour each time, when I stop and let it idle, it sputters and hesitates. It doesn't stall or quit, but it sputters , then it doesn't , then it does..... etc.

Have no guages so I cann't tell you what my fuel pressure is like, but changing my fuel filter was one of the last things my local dodge dealer service dept. did. I have noticed my fuel mileage go down since then. (15 to 16 mpg from about 17 to 18 MPG).

Please help, still trying to figure out my brake problems!

Did you clean and oil your K&N recently? Excessive oil will migrate to the MAP sensor and affect the operation. I might have this stated incorrectly but I recall another post which addresses this issue.

The same thing happened to my truck a while ago. It would spudder on start-up, while stopping, turning, anything with sharp movement. Found out it was air getting into the fuel lines. Since i fixed the leak, no more problems
But, since yours is a 24v and mines a 12v, it could be different.

the big deal here is the isb pump will suck fuel even if the lift pump is dead or almost dead.....problem is it is killing itself, that why the f.p. guage is so important, cause the isb pump is still a 1000.00bucks or more

Stopped by a New Mechanic today that specializes in Diesels and was told that it could be water in my fuel. Turns one of the stations I use to filll up has been known to have water in fuel issues.

Gonna try and dump my filter first and try the K&N cleaning first. If nothing I'll go and get him to do a pressure test.

I'm confused though, because it only seems to do it after I've run it for about an hour.

I'll keep you posted.

Did you get a pressure gauge on there so you can monitor that new lift pump.It can sure cost you a bunch of it goes again ,you dont catch it and it kills your injection pump.As cheap insurance as gauges are there is no reason not to get them.It would have probably saved you that tow bill. Diesel manor has some good deal on isspros.

I'v had this same problem for a year or more now. I have tried cleaning the sensor, I run 14-16# of pressure, have changed filters several times, and have stainless fuel lines so I don't think an air leak is the problem and have had the dealer check for codes. Not trying to jump on your thread, but from your description it is exactly what i'v had so you could probably mark off these things. My next step is to change the injectors and the short feed tubes to them and see if this gets me anywhere. This started after I had to bleed the fuel lines and I'm afraid I may have overtightened the nuts.
