Ripped the oil return line gasket. Will Black Silicone work???

Hey guys im in the middle of installing my SB turbo and the factory oil return line got stuck and ripped. Will some Ultra Black Silicone work as a gasket. Thanks. IO cant imagine the local rats stors having it.

Anything else you do guy think I might run into. Someone told me the rear studs will have to be ground down 1/4 inch and bolts for the front turbo to manafold.

Thanks ASAP

Dan

You can make it out of paper on a filter box or some other thin single layer cardboard. I've done it alot.

I had to loosen all my exhaust manifold bolts and raise it up a bit to get enough clearance to slide it up on the studs. For some reason I had to do the same on the 07....

Just make sure the mating surfaces are very clean and RTV or DIY gasket should be fine at those pressures.

I don't like to use silicone alone cause you usually use enough it squizes into the inside and can clog the pipe or break off and stop up the oil pump pickup. Just a smear on a paper gasket will help fill the voids in the paper to make a better seal. I have seen a small peice go through the screen and block the bypass valve in the pump open is why I won't use it alone anymore.

I think I would read on the rtv, Is it good up to 1600 deg.? (I know it won't get quite that hot, but) I think that cardboard might get to hot also. I would get some gasket material to make it out of

Well I tried the cardboard gasket but just didnt feel confortable using it so I need the cummins part number??

Also this just isnt my night with the install.

First off I couldnt remove the inner fender well and I just cant seem to get this big Silerbullet installed. I even siliconed the inner rear nut to the flange and its just too hard to do by myself not to mention holding the gasket.

Is it possable and would it be easier just to remove the exhaust manafold and install the turbo on it and then the engine? Oh and not to mention I tried hard and still couldnt get it in with the oil return line attached...

Thanks
