Bleeding injectors

Replaced lift pump.... steady stream of fuel at both schrader valves...cracked 1,3.4. and 5 injector lines to bleed.Fuel at all of them but #1 What would be the cause for this? Also shouldn't it spray under a fair amount of pressure?

I have a bad feeling it's the IP but is there anything else I can try to get it started before I go take out a loan?

Reason for replacing the lp was truck just quit on me pulling onto the highway.

Crack all the lines, the #1 probably just has more air in it, the book tells you to just crack 3 or 4 lines but I always doo all of them. The fuel will not spray out very hard more just dribble out.

do you have the truck running or using the LP to bleed? also I assume you are cracking the lines at the delivery tubes correct?

If it will start, just fire it up and crack the #1 and after a while fuel should come out.

If the IP has gone south, will there still be fuel at the injectors when you crack them and crank the engine over? Going to try and find a scanner to see what codes are hidden, does Auto Zone rent them? Don't really know what else to do other than take it to a shop. I definetly will be installing a fuel pres. gauge after this.

How long did you crank with the delivery tubes loose?
Tighten the ones with fuel, and leave #1 loose (maybe loosen it more) and crank until you get fuel. Crank 30 seconds at a time or so.

I cranked it off and on for quite awhile. Seems to me if the IP was bad that there wouldn't be fuel getting to the injectors? Going to try and bleed them some more.Hopefully I can get it going today. Thanks for the replies.

Remember, when you stop cranking, it might bleed back.
Its best if you can get someone to crank and you do the lines.

This is where the old horn switch I have with two spade terminals comes in handy. I remove the starter relay and install the switch so I can crank the engine from under the hood and tighten lines as needed.

.....and yes, I've seen some injection pumps that would seemingly be delivering fuel, but it wasn't enough nor at a high enough psi. You should be getting a fair bit of volume if your VP is good. Not a flowing river of fuel by any means, but more than a little spurt.

J BODY.... are you talking about pulling the stater relay in the fuse panel under the hood and putting a switch there? Will that also bypass the switch on the clutch pedal so it doesn't have to be pushed down? I don't want to mess anything else up,if you know what I mean !!!!

I was wondering how good the scanners were from Auto Zone...Thanks

if your sig is right then you can pull codes from the odometer.
turn key on 3 times but don't turn all the way to start just before. on the 3rd time stop at on and watch the odometer. pcm will pop up then codes then pause then ecm pop up then codes.
go junior.

Isn't 1693 part of the Death Code for your VP44?

no, it just says that there is a fault in another system somewhere. it is a companion code.

Oh OK - maybe I've seen it a number of times with VP44 failure?

Sounds awfully familiar...

BTW - anyone have a link to the complete list of OBD codes?
My OBD II list only has maybe a 100 or so.
