Ran out of Diesel, now it won't start!
Ok, 2 nights ago I ran completely out of diesel. After putting 10 gallons in the truck and filling the fuel filter housing with diesel and priming/starting the truck about 15 times over the period of an hour it started and ran fine (not rough). Then last night going to dinner the truck died again, just like it was out of fuel. It started, then died again, then started and I drove home. This afternoon it died again, and started, then died, then started, then died and wouldn't start again!..... What do you think is wrong?
Is my fuel pump, or whatever a stock 2004 Dodge has bad? Does it have a fuel "lifter" or something like that instead of a fuel pump that could be bad?
HELP! Thanks!

I dont know anything about it but for starters you might want to check your filter. Its possible you stirred up or picked up enough crud to plug it.

If the fuel gauge is reading below a 1/2 tank, you might be experiencing the not-too-uncommon Defective Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Syndrome.
Try adding another 5 or so gallons of fuel and bleeding the injection system again.
If it starts, you'll need to replace the tank sending unit.

My guess is that your lift pump may have failed. If that is the problem than you can install an axuilarry pump or you if under 100K take it into the dealer and have an intank pump installed for the $100 deductable if over 5 years old. If under 5 years old and under 100K than it should be no charge.

Just a plain ole guy
Before replacing hundreds of $$$ of anything, I would check for air leaks. it would be niothing to crack a lne open to bleed it and it didn't close good or right. All it takes is a little bit of air to stop these things.
Especially check the filter bowl seal.

Well, I got the word from Diesel Dynamics in Joshua, TX today... it was the lift pump. Charliez, he said they did a full check for air leaks in the lines, and everything was sealed up tight.
The even worse news is that with a $125 tow fee, the total was $950.00
