Question Radiator Drain Plug

Can someone tell me how the radiator drain plug works on an '02 Dodge? Does the plug come out all the way or just partially? Any good instructions on how to change out the fluid would be helpful as well.

It will come out all the way. Turn counter clockwise while pulling.
Best to have a replacement o-ring for the plug or another rig to go get one.

A search here for change coolant will give you tons of info.

It's weird. You have to turn a 1/4 turn, then pull it out while turning about 1/4 turn. I found it makes less mess if you stick a hose onto the nipple and run it into a bucket. This is very helpful since you will probably need to be under there with pliers trying to pull out on the petcock when turning. I couldn't pull it with my fingers.

Thanks. I was able to get it to come partially out and it took a while for it to drain. Just as an FYI, the 180 temp thermostat makes a big difference. It no longer even gets up to the 190 line and stays just below it. I also can't believe how much junk there was on the radiator. I thought it would be cleaner since the intercooler, ac condenser and transmission cooler sit in front of it.
