I sure hope it wasn't the injection pump. Did you try restarting it? Did it act like it wanted to fire at all? If it didn't do anything, chances are it's the injection pump. I really hope not. I also hope you have a warranty.

Are you absolutely sure you had fuel in the tank?

And, have to ask, are you sure it was Diesel?
If you weren't the one to personally pump it in at last fillup, can you guarantee it was the proper fuel?

Fuel level senders are notoriously bad in Dodges.

If you went over 350-400 miles you might be empty, or below the fuel pickup level.

phox

Might sound crazy but with as many bad experiences as Ive had with my fuel shut off solenoid I would check it out. Look for bad connections, corroded wires etc.
Good luck
Wheels

i have a quater a tank of diesel i think the fuel tank pump is getting diesel to to the injector pump! (is there a bleed off lever onthe injector pump if so when i lifted the lever on the pump it let diesel run out of it on to the ground) where is the injector pump is it in the middle on the right hand side of the motor? :'( :'( what does the cummins warnty cover ?
7yrs 100000miles?

are the better after market injector pumps ???

GS: The lever you found is the drain for the fuel filter- if it is pushing fuel out there you know that the lift pump works.
Now go to check the injection pump: Open one of the 6 lines that go into the side of the cylinder head. ( Just crack one open a bit- meaning loosen the big nut that slips over the small tube entering the head) While cranking there should be fuel coming out of the line- please be careful- extremely high pressure- can cut off fingers and give you the diesel IV which can kill you !
I would go and check the electrical connectors around the injection pump- easily found by tracing the 6 lines from the cylinder head to the place where they come out of the pump.

AlpineRAM

A permanent fuel pressure gauge would be nice. That way you'll know whether or not your lift is good. If you want a fix to your problem, I'd suggest the Holley Black or the PE4200 pusher pump.
