slight miss at idle while runnin turkey cooker oil???
well i have been working on trying to run my truck on used cooking oil so my dad had about 3 gallons of used but really clean oil from deep frying a turkey. I pored it though a shop rag to get all the chunks out and then dumped it in my tank that had about 10 gallons of diesel.
now when i let it idle it has a slight miss and runs rough but if i bump the rpm up to 1,000 then it run smoth as can be. and it only does it when my engine is warm. when its cold it idles just fine.
This last winter it did the same thing when warm and i was using the amsoil additive then i switched ower to power service and the miss went away but now its twice as bad with the cooker oil than it was this last winter.
with that oil in there it seems to run great with the hamer down and a little less smoke
you guys got any ideas?? weak ip or low compresion or bad injectors??? the fuel prs. looks good yet so my filter isnt pluged up.
personally i hope its the injectors cause then ill just have to order me up some mach 4's

Maybe there are feathers stuck in the injectors, ha ha , really though I had almost the same thing with a new tractor I sold to the local ice arena, they wanted to run it in doors and the local diesel shop told me to run sunflower oil instead if diesel. Smelled like a bakery in the arena when tractor was cleaning the ice, ran fine wide open but would flutter at idle. I think I was told at that time that the combustion level of sunflower oil was higher, thus making the flutter at idle. Just my .02 cents.

Raften is correct, I believe 24V Cummins are not suited to run "Veggie oil", something with the VP44 (I forgot what).
The 12v has no problem at all, Fords 7.3 are fine too (not the 6.0).
Study the idea a little before doing it again, you don't want to be sorry after this....
