Over boost???

Would running a boost elbow on a stock turbo (truck is an '01 high ouput) cause the truck to build too much boost? This is my brother's truck and he's getting the exceeded boost code.

I had borrowed the turbo to use on my truck and installed the elbow because I'm pushing extra fuel... I didn't think it would hurt anything to leave it on but maybe that's not the case?

He was supposed to leave on a road trip last night but the trip is currently on hold.

Thanks in adance.

Without a boost fooler, absolutely. To run an elbow you need a boost fooler which is builtin to most boxes (Van Aaken, Edge, Smarty, etc...). Without it you will throw the code as has happend to you. Computer only likes to see up to 21lbs of boost

Thanks for the quick reply... I didn't think the truck would make any more boost without extra fuel.

Most stockers will do around 25-27lbs, put on a small box, up to about 30lbs. Stock turbo starts petering out around 35lbs and becomes inefficient.

IIRC, the over boost code causes the engine to de-fuel... regardless, we'll get it worked out today and he'll be on his way.
