Question 96 12v boost problem

Hi all,

Today I was checking to see if my waste gate was working properly(truck feeling low on power) I applied about 15 psi of regulated pressure and it didn't move, upon dissasembly it had a busted diaphram.Checked operation of waste gate valve and it moves freely. So i removed the brass 90 barb fitting on turbo housing to check boost with guage and held waste gate closed started engine and no boost, increased rpms and nothing, took soapy water around looking for leaks spraying around intercooler and piping connected to it.Is there anything else I could try,or any suggestions on problem any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

You need to put some pressure on the engine to get it to build boost. Neither my 96 or 99, with Mach 5 injectors, will make any boost in neutral. If you have an automatic you could have someone powerbrake it, and it will start building boost at 1500-1700 RPM.

I pressure tested my intercooler and it was full of holes where the aluminum had oxidized so I'll be looking for one of those also. I'll fix that and the waste gate actuator and let everone know how that works out.

Thanks for the help,
Dave
