93 12v versus 95 12v

I cringe everytime I get in my 95 now. its developed a miss or loss of a cylinder it feels between idle and 1200 rpm or so. Im wondering if an injector went bad.I just checked the valves and alls good. I have a new overflow valve to put in this weekend also. I really dont know what to expect from a 95 2500 4x4, 5 speed compared to a 93 250 auto 2wd if running right. Both are 3.5s on gearing. I can say my 93 will kick the 95s hiney. Obviously the rowing gears will make it slower but im talkin about pulling grunt and seat of the pants acceleration in top gear. The 93s pump was done with a 15% hp increase. any suggestions on injectors for a small increase? no PODs for me, also are the cats a problem? 122k now on it. I also can say this thing seems to leave a lot more soot on the tail pipe and back of truck than my 93, but I dont see it smoking ever.

If you pull the CAT and look in it you can see if it is plugged very easily. Also check the timing Cummins has a new lock washer , nut and torque spec due to the timing gears having a tendancy to slip. If your lucky someone in your area might have a snap on diesel pulse timing adaptor which makes checking easy.
