Odometer reads: "No buS"
Dash gages are all dead. Check engine light is on, ABS light is on, Low fuel light is on, Air bag light is on. Overhead console reads: "CCd". Odometer reads: "No buS". Radio will not turn on, but lights. Dash lights work. Truck seems to start and run o.k., but something is definitely blown...

Just check the plug under the dash. That usually corrected the issue when I had that problem intermittently. But it did eventually turn into a bad instrument cluster that had to be replaced.
Can't find any harness connectors loose under the dash. Everything I could touch felt tight, nothing loose as far as I can see. Plan to take it apart a bit more tonight for better access to see if I'm missing any. Didn't get your message in time Clunk, already disconnected the batteries to reset. Nothing changed though, so if it's throwing codes I should still be able to get them tonight - I'll give it a try. Kinda wondering what will happen anyway since the odometer reads "No BuS" after the initial systems check.
One more try guys before it heads to the dealer. I can tackle **** near anything mechanically on these beasts, but you could say I'm "electrically challenged".

Don't just look to see if the connectors are tight, you'll need to open them up, then re-connect and lock them. Whenever this happened on mine, I would reach down and disconnect/reconnect and it would go away.
If you are showing No BuS, then you won't get any codes with the key trick as it is not reading any data from the bus connecting the computers and consoles.

O.K. thanks I'll try that. It's a bit cramped under there, so I think I'll take off the knee bolster and try your suggestion. I've searched and found a couple of older posts with this issue also. Looks like it could be a couple of different areas causing it. Luckily, most appear minor - just a matter of finding were the connection has gone bad.

What about your fuse panel? I had it happen to me that the fuse for the PCM had been tapped into (I know I didn't do it), and the fuse tap caused the connection in that fuse socket to become erratic, disconnecting at the most inopportune moments. The truck would shut down when that connection opened and the odo would say NO BUS. I moved the fuse tap to a more appropriate fuse and all is well.

Just to follow up with everyone that was kind enough to help me out, I found the problem. It was the main bus connector in the fuse block under the hood. It's the large multipin connector that's bolted down (in the center). Pulled it apart and cleaned all connector pins with contact cleaner, sprayed it in the female end, then blew everything out real good with air. Reconnected and all my gauges came back to life. All the lights went out except the check engine light, which took about 4-5 key cycles to finally go away. Glad I checked the easy one first! Thanks again to everyone that threw suggestions my way.
More than likely it was one of the componants pertaining to that connector that "reset" when you unplugged it. While I have found bad abs modules, overheads, ctm's, and clusters cause this.... more times than not by eliminating each module on the bus one at a time the problem will mysteriously go away. Kind of like powering down your home PC when it gets stupid and you turn it back on and it works flawlessly. I have a customer that had that issue two years ago and I merely unplugged, and reconnected his 4wal module and it's been fine since. On the older JTEC equipped gas vehicles a shorted crank sensor was a fan favorite for causing a "no bus" along with a no start condition.
