new vavle body: truck won't start

Installed suncoast vavle body today and now the truck won't start. The Park and neutral lights won't come on with the truck in the run position. Could I have damaged the neutral saftey switch? Everthing seems to be plugged in properly and I made sure the switch was making contact in park and neutral before I put the pan back on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Just jump the N switch to eliminate it as a posibility. You may not have the shifter properly adjusted.

I'd say disconnect hte shifter from the tranny first, put the tranny itself into park and check whether you can start it. If yes, adjust shifter linkage, if no- you either have a park/neutral safety switch issue or you have messed up a connector or cable during install.
Rough method of doing the start test is to slowly move the shifter towards R or D while trying to crank. If it will crank somewhere away from N you have to adjust the linkage.

If you do this, SET YOUR PARKING BRAKE AND STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL!!!!!!!!! If you don't, the truck could take off when you least expect it to.

Thanks tom for correcting my omission!

Definitely secure any vehicle you work on or in against any movement that can hurt people or damage property.

Thanks for the help. I got it fixed, I messed up the tip of the neutral safety switch on the uninstall.
