Cool need a new lift pump

I own a 1998.5 24 valve 2500. This morning i went to leave for work and the truck would 'nt start. Long story short i now need a new lift pump. I'm not sure what size i should go with or what kind. Mods on the truck right now are exhaust, stage 2 cold air intake, and a Smarty programmer. I would appreciate any suggestions and advice. Thanks

My plans were to go with the FASS or AirDog system when my last LP failed, but funds and my extended warranty had me going with the in-tank LP from the dealer for $100.00 deductible. Its been in a year now and still pushes about 12 psi at the vp 44. But I will go to the Fass/Airdog system next time or when $$ allow.

FWIW, You can buy the original block mounted pump reasonably if funds are tight, 30 min and you are back on the road. The in tank pump is a PITA to reverse when it dies, and some do........

With your mods, I don't know why you wouldn't just replace the existing pump.

This is where I get mine from:

I have to agree. My first LP lasted 105,000 miles. I have a new OEM lift pump with 140,000 miles on it and it is still at 13 psi idle and 10 under load. Almost the same as new. I also have a new spare one under the back seat and the tools to change it.

Lots of guys have problems with the stock pump but if you keep the tank at least 1/2 full and use good clean fuel, you should not have problems.

.....and it's highly recommended you install some sort of fuel psi gauge or light to monitor the fuel psi.

FP gauge should be a mandatory first mod on the VP44 Cummins

Might want to look at mechanical fuel pumps as well. Probably one of the best mods I did to my '01.
