It is most likley your slave cylinder or maybe a master cyl. But if you would like to check if your clutch is going out put it in 4 or 5th and floor it if it goes your good if it reves up with out moving it going out.

thanks a ton for the info.
I haul with it alot. someone said the fluid could be shot is that a possible?

It doesnt feel like its slipping under load or anything like that just once in a while the pedal goes dead and it wont go into gear then i let it out the pedal comes back and its fine.
well thanks again .

I just went through this in my '03 at ~150,000 miles. I'm not sure about your '02, but the dealer sells the Master and Slave as a connected unit. I think it was around $170 or so. Take out the old M/S and install the new as a unit.

The benifits are:
  1. No guessing which is bad,
  2. You are not replacing one unit just to find out the other is what was bad,
  3. No bleeding necessary as it is a sealed unit (probably best benefit)
Good luck,

you could try syphoning out the clutch fluid in the resovoir and replacing with new fluid.

sounds like its got to much water in it. or just replacing the entire thing as a unit. i don't think they are sold seperatly on those trucks. but i mean try the cheapest method first.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You take the necessary bolts loose from each component slip the old out and slide new in place. Look at the new one over and can figure where bolts are. Buy as assembly from Dodge or aftermarket Southbend for few dollars more.

OOOOOOOOOOhhhh, yeah. Takes about 20-30 minutes in the driveway.

Take the two bolts out of the slave cylinder and pull it out. Under the dash, pull the plastic thingy (Technical term) off the pin that goes through the Master Cylinder rod and the pedal, then pull the pin out.

If you take the nuts off the Master Cylinder (under the brake cylinder) it will be difficult to work the MC out with that big bracket on it. So, leave the nuts on and just give the old MC a twist counter clockwise and it will come right out.

Pull the MC up and out and have the slave follow it out.
