Exclamation How Important Are Those Darn Coper Washers?

So I put a new lift pump in my truck Friday night and drove it all day Saturday off and on to make sure every thing was happy. Well while cleaning up my mess in the shop i found a coper washer So I thought well I will just watch it an see if its the inlet or the outlet thats leaking. Fast forward to today after work I get in the truck and start it and it fires right up then it dies So open the door and turn the key and i can hear the pump work I crank on it for a sec and it fires. Once it was running it was fine and my fuel psi was 14psi at idle 11psi cruising and 9psi at wot. So the only thing I can come to a conclusion on is that not having the coper washer on the inlet side is either sucking air into the system or its not pressurizing because of the lack of washer. Also I had codes check from the key on an off method and my my code reader an non are present.

Well ya need to find where it goes and put it back in. It seems to be allowing the lines to drain back after sitting. Easy fix just figuring which one is the gamble.

The lack of one sealing washer was allowing the system to loose prime while sitting.
When I change the lift pump on my truck, I use all new sealing washers.
They're only a couple of dollars, and I know I won't have a sealing problem down the road.
