Unhappy Help me figure this 99 out!!!!!!!

My 99 24 valve will not start in the morning with out a shot of starting fluid (i know not a good idea but i do wait till the grid heater cools down) after it is started it runs fine and starts right up the rest of the day. It is not the grid heater it works fine and it does it at 60 degres. only does it when it sets over nite. any suggestions would be helpfull.

fuel

Sounds like a fuel issue. Maybe you have a leak in your fuel system that is allowing air which would cause a no start issue. Just trying to think of things that would happen when setting overnight. The lack of fuel would give the no start issue. Just a thought.

NO fuel! try cycling the pump a few times. What is your fuel pressure?

Your Cummins has Grid Heaters to warm the intake air for cold starts.

If the ether hits those red hot grid heater wires (Imagine spraying ether into your toaster) you could be in for a REAL unhappy time.

It sounds like an air leak is causing you to loose prime.
It could be in the fuel return line....that's not all that uncommon.

If the air leak is on the return side (at the back of the head is a common spot), the FASS won't solve the problem.

Did you recently install the fuel press? I have a similiar issue where I think the fp line is allowing the system and filter canister to loose press overnight or after not driving it for the weekend. May want to check that line for leaks. I've also noticed when trying to cycle the lpump to build press that sometimes it won't come on at all.
