Help me figure out if I have 4 wheel ABS.
I just ordered a set of wheel bearings from Discount Auto Parts and according to their site for my truck (1996 4WD) the only bearings they show are the ones without the ABS sensor. I was looking at the specifications sticker under the hood of my truck this weekend and it seems to me like it says I have 4 wheel ABS. Is this right or did I misread it? Was 4 wheel ABS an option in 96? If so is there a way to look at the front end before I get it apart and see if there is a sensor there or not? Thanks
4 wheel ABS was an option in 96. On a 4w abs the control unit takes up quite a bit of space on the fender outside from master cylinder, on 2w abs there is a big open space.
Almost certain on '96, definitely sure on '94&'95 that the unit bearing is the same for 4 wheel abs as 2 wheel.
For sure on '97 the hubs for 4w abs are different than for 2 wheel. The difference is the sensor tone ring is part of the bearing on '97 up. Big price difference too.
