.....funny this came up. I had a 2000 that I had to put a oil sender on friday. The parts specifier has a note that the new sensor "must use a jumper harness". I didn't need it either.

I personally think it is a way to make someone (like me) get so frustrated trying to find the **** special connector to just bring the truck to the dealer...$$$.

I'm thinking the 02 "might" have the different connector. I know the MAP changed to that larger one. Possibly the oil psi one did too.
