bad belt!!!!!!!!!!!

Belt trouble !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

2004.5 3500 4wd the belt every 30000 miles chews off a rib then i put a new one on cant figure out why any ideas

Have a look at all the grooved pulleys, sometimes there can be something stuck in one of the grooves like a small rock, piece of metal, that kind of thing. Also as previously mentioned check your idlers as a bad bearing or bad tensioner can also cause this.

Does your truck have a belt chirp at shutdown?

Do a search for the overrunning alternator pulley or belt chirp..

Ya check the pully's. most likely cause by either a bad bearing or a missaligned pully. while you are at it throw on a gator back good year belt. world of a difference

Also check water pump bearing for play, release belt tension and check for any up and down play. There should be none, if there is it could cause belt to walk outward on pulley causing belt to chafe on pulley.
