Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
For what it is worth, I removed the APPS and tested it here at work. Apparently, it is a Hall effect sensor. Hall effect switches and sensors rarely fail, so I am told. I plan to do some more research to see who makes the sensor.
Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
I talked to a local tech who wrote an article for G.E.A.R.S magazine(american transmission repair assoc.) and he claims oftentimes the APPS signal is clean until it enters the ECM then it gets noisy-then when it gets to the PCM is where the trouble starts.Luckily mine is still working fine after reflash(8k mis.)Those little noise filters sound intriguing.
Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
On my truck it happens at about 30-35mph and usually coasting going down hill in town. Maybe I should try the reflash as it happens everyday on the same hill so I have just been putting tranny in neutral and braking more :
. I am not at the point where I am going to buy and new APPS from the dealer.

Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
I've been seeing weird idle from my truck when cold. It's fluctuating up and down about 10-20 rpms and you can slightly hear it. I wonder if my apps is causing this. Once the truck is warm, it idles steady. I also had a check engine light the other day but it has since gone out. It could be that it's just starting to fail and I haven't seen it go completely bad yet. I guess I need have it checked, or at least have them look for codes.

My truck was doing this for the last 6 months. I finally broke down and put the APPS on it and problem solved.

Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
This sounds like a possible safety issue. Has anyone thought about reporting to the National Highway Safety Administration (see their site), known by the acroninm: NHSA, and see if they will force the company to recall the part. Alternatively, there is the possibility of a class action agaisnt the company for putting out a defective product. I believe this to be a safety issue more than a mechanical problem.
Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
The Noise Problem is ********.... Isolation of noise didn't help me a bit....neither did a 480.00 APPS....come on guys this is bad info to the Computer....then the computer just keeps on passing bad instructions.
Re:Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
I had the reflash done and it worked good for about 3000 miles but now its back just not as bad yet.
At 40-45 the TC locks and unlocks if I'm just trying to hold a steady speed(in town) but if I'm accelerating to highway speed it does fine. Even with the overgrive off it does it only at a lower speed. Befor the reflash it did it at most any speed.
