98 Fuel Filter canister leaking
98 Fuel Filter canister leaking
My fuel filter canister is leaking on the bottom, looks like at the elbow for the water drain. Has any one else seen this ? I'm letting the truck thaw out right now and will be taking a look to see if repairable.
The water drain assembly can be removed. There is an O-ring that seals the water drain assembly to the aluminum cannister housing. Also you have an O-ring inside the lever assembly, but I bet it is the O-ring that seals the drain assembly up against the housing/cannister. It uses two torx screws to remove from the cannister. Not that tough once the cannister is removed.
The other problem area is the water in fuel sensor. It is made out of plastic, it is somewhat fragile, and can develop a leak. If you overtighten this, it will break, trust me it will. That may be leaking. Good luck finding a replacement for it. ($$).
If it's just leaking and not cracked, try some thread sealant and put it back on. Just hand tighten and maybe just a pinch more. It is hollow plastic, with some softer sealing material inside, so be careful. Good luck, Kevin
