99 2500 cummins fuel filter canister leaking fuel

the head of the fuel filter canister is leaking around the heating element and the dealer is the only avenue to get a kit to fix the problem.......$1200.00
any suggetions on a less expensive approach??
any help would be appreciated.

Try phoning around to other sources - that sure doesn't seem right. Methinks that dealer is full of BS and would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

I think the 2000-2002 are cheaper, and they are a better filter set up compared to the earlier version. and if not call a salvage yard to see if they have one, another avenue is ask in the classifieds to see if any one has one, I know when I installed my Airdog I removed the filter housing and tossed it away.

Mine was doing the same thing awhile back. Removed the cannister and used some epoxy to seal the leak. Same here a replacement was about $1200. Epoxy was $5
