I can understand that it is under the vp44.
where is the vp44? it is the fuel pump right?

I have worked on many mini trucks but this is my first diesel.
total newbie at 47.

VP44 is the injection pump yes. Can't find any diagrams off-hand for the cam position sensor, but here's some of the VP44:

Nope, that's the crank position sensor, and your truck does not have one. Just a cam position sensor.

think that I found a picture of it with the vp44 removed.

That's it, and it's just about impossible to get to without either the VP44 removed, or the vacuum pump removed, unfortunately...
