Ok well my first "issue" with my truck hopefully something that I can fix... I have noticed a clicking noise from what seems like the front passenger side wheel. Now this is hard to determine because well I can only really hear it when the windows are down, and when the windows are down all I can hear is the shaker under the hood and its straight piped growl behind me... I've done some searching and have seen "clicks" related to axle u-joints (my guess), ball-joints, shock mounts, and front drive shaft u-joints and whatever that fancy joint towards the transfer case is called . My question is, how do I go about figuring which is the one?? If it is a u-joint of some kind where is a good place to buy from and can I do it myself?? I've replaced the CV axles on a Isuzu Rodeo and replaced the u-joints on its rear axle before... Would this be fairly similar? Special tools required??

Could it be your A/C compressor clutch engaging/disengaging? I know it makes a very distinct *click*.

 

You could have brake pads rattling in the mounts. Try this next time you are in an area where you hear the noise drag the brakes lightly to see if the noise goes away.

 

is the click repetitive? intermittent? increase/decrease frequency with speed? or with engine RPM?

rock in your tire?

 

Before you start buying parts, check for a a loose wheel center cap. Sometimes its something this simple.

 

Pretty sure not that becasue I turned the A/C off to hear better...

 

pgilles- repetitive, changes with speed, dont think it is a rock haven't done anything to tires or anything since i've owned the truck so unless one creeped in somehow... Will put it on stands this weekend and give it a whirl that should be an easy one to check
