2002 Parking brake help

OK,

So I'm in middle of my parking brake change, I have the calipers off, but how do I get to the drum to replace these little shoes I have?

It has the rear disc brakes, those are fine, just the e-brakes are gone, any ideas??

Well, If I take off the hub bolts (8 I think) the 1/2 shaft slides out. I didn't take it out far, didnt seem right to have to do that to change the shoes. So, I did a search here, doesnt seem this has come up before. I wish I knew who fried the parking brake, it should have lasted forever!

Hello
Looking at the service manual, it says simply to remove the calipers and rotors for the disc brakes, then to disengage the parking brake cable and remove the shoes. There is a diagram, but it doesn't show anything in particular. I can only assume that the drum for the parking brake is also part of the rear rotor. I don't know for sure as I have never had to touch the parking brakes on my '02.
Hope this helps some.

Sorry, didn't realize you have a dually most likely. For that the manual states to remove the rear axle shaft from the housing indeed. Good luck.

On 3500 I think
You have to remove the axle then remove the big nut . 2 9/16 or 3 9/16 socket.
Remove the bearing then the rotor should slide off. There's a locking clip it the nut next to the treads, pry it out.

Mishkaya,

Thanks for looking it up, but the rotor seems to be one piece with the hub thats bolted to the axle 1/2 shaft. I've gotta be missing something here, I just cant imagine the rotor is all one piece. It's a 1 ton dually, and it's pretty massive looking

I only have a 2500 and it's quite different, but the manual shows the rotor/drum assembly separate from the hub, but it's all bolted together from the inside of the drum (torque for that is 95 ft. lbs by the way).
Sorry I can't be of more help.
