Hey guys got a problem I need a little help with. First I will start with this Ihave an 03 4x4 QB SB 4:10 rears limited slip 6speed. I can take my truck put it in first gear with no gas at all ;D apply pressure to the brakes and it with just sit there and spin those stock tires. Just sittin there.You will here the engine bog down just a little then the RPMs come right back up This is an HO. You guys that own the 03 like mine can yours do this? Also I can take off in third gear without an throttle and without ridin the clucth and its like it take off on its own til about 20mph and the it will drop back down to 1000 RPMs. Today i recieved a recall on my 03 problem is the Engine Control Module. Says that the engine control module may cause increased engine idle speed after extended speed control usage. Do they mean extended usage of the cruise control? This can increase the trucks stopping distance and cause an accident. What my ? is could this be the problem with my truck or is the ECM something different. I dont mind my truck being able to do this I actually like it like that (spin the tires dead stop no throttle) What I am wondering is if I take it in will this change my truck from spinning tires at a stop no throttle.They say they need to reprogram my trucks ECM. If this will change my power at dead stop I would rather not take it in.I need all the thoughts and opinions I can get.It is a Recall. Oh yeah the chrome bug shield had **BEATS STROKIN** put on it. ;D ;D ;D Sorry for the long post.

This is normal. It's the computer preventing the engine from lugging at idle. Think of this as a launch control feature.<br> It took me several days after picking up my '03 to figure this out. I would give a little throttle when launching in 2nd gear and was leaving expensive black marks on the pavement. ;D<br>Then I realize you can launch the truck with no throttle at all. Launches are much smoother now.<br> The recall is for extended driving with the cruise control. <br><br>MikeyB<br><br>

 

Is this recall for automatics as well?

 

My recall said for 03 HO model I think that was it. I beleive that it didnt state for stick or auto.
