Rollover Pete, Some of my family runs some heavy earth moving equipment out of southern California. Peed Equipment Co. Just wondering if you know of them, what kind of projects do you work on?

And back to your question, I have 4WD to get around in the winter cause I think these trucks with 2WD are about worthless in the snow. Also use it for 4WD launches now and seems to hold traction pretty well with it engaged.

Lots of rain= muddy roads or pasture
Deep snow= slick conditions
Long, heavily loaded trailer= extra traction
Add Northern Montana=4x4
Tried the other option 35 years ago, not again

hmmm lemme think
oilfield
snow
ice
to save stoopid peoples lives when they spin their car out in front of me on the highway
got a 40 ft trailer and alot of weight behind

cuz when the snow is deep first thing in the morning you can lock it in and spin all 6 tires down the road and plow a path for the neighbours
the one time they dont mind

counter weight to all that wieght in the back

and then last and pretty much the least...... i dont think they ship more than 5 2 whl drive cummins up to alberta a yr

I bought it for the stance, the heavy weight of the engine and the fact my 'lil truck (2wd 1500) gets stuck pretty dang easy. I also want to sledpull with it Putting it in 4hi on the road when racing someone lets me do MUCH better launches because I don't break traction. I am also fond of going muddin'

I use it a few times a month maybe, with my old tires I had to use it everday just to get out of my driveway lol.

To pull my 9000lbs 5th wheel in gravel on blocks to level it at Wilson Lake in Kansas. Never leave home without it, also never owned a truck without it.

besides location a 4x4 re sells faster and sells for more obviously. Also IMO if you are going to spend the extra $5000 or $6000 for the CTD you might as well go ahead and spend the 3k for 4x4 to be prepared for anything. Its going to look pretty silly getting your 20 or 35 thousand dollar truck stuck when that surprise snow storm or mud wash from rain hits because you opted to not get 4x4 Even if I lived in Miami Id buy a 4x4 because Id be traveling to states now and then where I might need it. The only scenario I can see me buying a 2 wheel drive is if I ever decided to drag race it

I would go down to Indian river all the time, Old neighbor use to have a camper done at the campground there.. But since we moved we have not been down there.

For the question, I live on a road that is plowed last,so you might have to go thru 15" of snow to get out, plus it has a plow on it. To get out of my driveway when its muddy or sloppy.

I have used it a heck of alot this year(we have had over 3ft of snow just in April), its in whenever the plow is on the truck,I can fend in 2wd once out of the driveway if the plow is not on,but then again its no CTD

Why anyone would buy a stout diesel work truck with one hand tied behind is beyond me. To pay all that money and then have some potential handicap of its "workability" because you dont have a 4x4 is more then enough reason. The first time you need it or would have made it alot easier is the start of the 4x2 handicap. I refuse to buy such a large investment and limit its abilities, not to mention resale and looks to save a very modest savings in light of the overall cost which will be lost latter if you sell.IMHO

When you need it you need it. Wouldn't be caught without it.
