Why'd ya buy a 4X4?
Hunting and fishing mainly, I'll end up using it a lot duck hunting, not quite as much as the old men who I hunt with a lot.
I also drove a rock crawler for 6 years before the cummins, I learned the value of getting around in 2 wheel (hi and lo) just in case I had to ever buy a 2wd, consequently I have an attitude of "ya, I can go through that no problem" which is why I need a winch as well (I will get stuck or need it at some point in life...)

Because It's a TRUCK
Because it is a truck.
Since 1971 I have owned trucks and only one of them was 2wd and that was the one stuck the most and hardest to get out.
I do not take this truck off road like all the previous ones which all had lifts, tires and setup for off road. Would need heavy duty lift, etc. for me to take it where I used to go. But it is still nice to have the 4wd when needed. I have used it a couple of times off road and in snow/icy conditions.
On the other hand I have used it 200+ times on the track

I bought 4x4 cuz I live in WI and its snows here. Alot up north where I go snowmobiling. But it wasnt til I got the CTD, that I realized that these trucks are worthless in 2wd. Rear is just too light on these trucks. I would never recommed a 2wd CTD to anybody. Especially in the snowbelt regions.
Because I live in the snowy and icy NE and I hunt, fish and camp.I have owned a 4X4 since 1977 and will never drive anything else.I also enjoy harrasing my buddies about pulling their 2X4's out of wet, slick grass.
my story is not as good but here it goes......
i amfortunate enough that my father was able to buy me my first truck when i graduated HS. I got a 96 1500 sport w/ the 360 but i really wanted the 4x4. Needless to say he said I did not need one so I got the 4x2. No complaints here as I was very grateful. Fast forward to the time I am able to buy my OWN rig I got the 4x4 because I am my own man now and I can. Great feeling. After graduating college I gave my old Ram back to my dad and he uses it as work truck. Hopefully one day I can get him a CTD 4x4.

Snow, ice, poorly maintained logging roads.
Probably a minimum of 40-50 times per year. The increased ground clearance alone makes it easier to get over rough spots easier than a 2WD.
2WD just doesn't cut it on roads like this:

And that is an easy section. I wasn't about to stop for a pic while churning through a foot of loose snow and risk getting stuck.
2)... How often to you use your 4X4?

1)my driveway
2)I tow alot, so it's nice to know u have 4x4
3)It looks better with the stock lift
4)I like to goto mt baker and drive in the snow
5)I use it everytime coming up my driveway so it doesn't start washboarding the gravel

Over 600 ft lbs of torque + slippery conditions=stuck
Last truck was a 2wd dually, it took a full sized ATV (700+ lbs) in the bed to drive in 3" of snow and it still got stuck. Then, digging out a 7000lb truck is just not fun.

1)...Because stopping ,on level ground in a snow storm...and NOT being able to go again, in 1 inch of snow, BITES
2)at least once a month...it's a farm truck ...mud ...loose footing...
I would NEVER own a 2wd again
