Why are the Ford guys so touchy about their trucks?

Buybacks
My neighbor having had awful luck with his '99 7.3 read all of Ford's hype and bought an '03 6.0 Ford bought it back two weeks later due to engine failure and electronic meltdown and replaced it with another. This one's been a big dissapointment to him also. He frequents the desert here in San Diego County and is influenced by the "HERD MENTALITY". A co-workers' friend is on his third one. The latest truck has worked out well thank goodness.

I liked this phrase....
"On the original question of a Dodge i am thinking of going that way. I ran with a guy last month hauling FEMA trailers with an 05 Dodge set up the same as my truck. He consistantly got 2-3 mpg better towing and 3-4 mpg better empty. At the price of todays fuel that says something and how often do you hear of a cummins grenading a block or eating injectors?"
How about the $80 replacement air filter?
$83 replacement fuel filter?
$57 replacement serpentine belt?
i can't imagine spending that on routine maintenance on a truck that might not make it another 6k miles for another servicing....
