Man, those Nissan guys are touchy...

Started a thread on RV.Net from a news article about a Titan crashing while towing a 30' TT. IMHO the Titan is probably not the ideal TV for that big of a trailer but some choose otherwise. One of the replies is shown below. Guess he disagrees.

And don't be fooled. A Dodge RAM Diesel Pickup is just a wannabe miniature Diesel truck that was outdated and left behind about 5 years ago. My advice would be to sell it soon because in a couple years when Toyota and Nissan decide to take over the Diesel Pickup market you won't be able to give it away.

First of all tell that zipper where to go and how to get there, second how do I join that site so I can tell him too. Can you imagine me pullin my mules with a Titan, maybe I could listen to the Backstreet Boys when I am driving down the road.

I like Toyotas more than most and think the Tundra is one of the best 1/2 tons, but I don't understand why people can't understand the difference between 1/2 and then HD 3/4 & 1 tons. They have different purposes, and I don't know why the manufacturers are putting these really high tow rating (9,000 lbs+) on 1/2 tons. They have plenty of power, but what about stopping and handling.

And when you tell him where to go, don't forget to mention the weak rear end issues of the titans.

Don't even go there with them. Some would hook a 20,000# 5'ver to their Astro van if they could figure out the hitch piece.

The guy that said that has probably never even pulled a BIG trailer before with his gaspot-probably used to a 3000lb lightweight trailer. If he ever did he would see the huge difference diesel makes compared to gas, especially when towing heavy. Most of the heavily loaded trailers/fifth wheels anywhere on hiways, are the Dodges/Cummins combo, must be a reason.

There was a thread about a guy wanting to pull a 30' trailer and considering a Titan over at IRV, but thankfully he got talked into a 3/4 ton...

http://irv2.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/...2/m/4051099082

Nissans have some neat features, like the rails for tie downs in the bed and backs of front seats that fold flat, But IMHO they just aren't wide or heavy enough for me to even consider towing a trailer that size.

My Grandpa taught me...

...it's always better to have too much truck than not enough truck.

(pulling an anything larger than a tent trailer with a Titan is like showing up at a gunfight with just a pocket knife ).

BTW, Your "outdated" Dodge gets better fuel mileage empty and pullin' than either the Titan or the Tundra (I know 'casue I have friends w/both). It's great fun passing them on a 7% grade pulling more 4,000lbs and getting better mpgs!

I always wondered how my 305hp "outdated" Ram would fare against a 305hp Titan hooked up together in a parking lot.

I've sat behind them in traffic before; have you ever noticed that their rear differential cover appears to be smaller than my front diff cover? Makes you wonder ........
