It's still cheaper than an hour at the Shrink's office.

So I turned it off and for the first time in a long time, I was at peace with myself. I know, it sounds weird, but I just sat there and listened to the constant hum of the engine...the road was so flat that the sound never changed, and there was rarely a curve or another car to pass so I just sat there and listened...and it was the most relaxed I had been since I can remember....It's amazing what a little 2 hour road trip can do for a person...Sorry if this sounds really weird, I guess I just wanted to share this little story with everyone... Happy New Year everyone!
Life has a tendency to throw "stuff" at ya. You have been in a stressfull situation. Loosing the GF is tough, getting a dent on your bumper is tough too.

What happened when you realized you enjoyed the hum of the truck wasn't the truck, or the hum, or the road, you were at peace with yourself. When you feel you "loose touch with everything around me" it is realizing you don't have control over everything around you and that hurts. Sometimes we don't like ourselves for who we have become. What felt good for you is being in control again.

Loosing a GF is tough, but is usually for the best. You two obviously made a good couple for awhile, but as you both mature you didn't need the same things anymore. You grew up, it's time to move on.

OMG! I'm starting to rant like Begle1! Someone slap me!

Consider yourself slapped... friends don't let friends act like Begle1

... which reminds me - he has quite a nice looking holiday-appropriate avatar!

Kudos to Begles

Here is where I go to forget my troubles for awhile.

Nothing like a little altitude under your butt to put perspective on the day.

No it's not a CTD.

That's an RV-7 isn't it? I love those planes..I was flying young eagles for the EAA at a local fly-in one day and I was just puttering along, and one of the guys from the fly-in suddenly flys up right next to me in his RV and then flips it over and dives out of the formation...ahh..what a way to fly...
