Oil Pressure Transmitters
In general for an experiment.
I need a 100-150psi oil pressure transmitter with 3 wires; power, ground, and output. Ground can be through the case, but I'd prefer it wasn't. 1/8npt. Been looking at a bunch of them, but no one gives any electrical specs. Non automotive ones get real expensive real fast. There has to be something out there. Any suggestions?

Why not give these guys a call they might have what you need.
Or use a trans pressure sensor they go up to 300 psi.

No one gives any specs for trans and oil pressure sensors. Looks like the transmission ones don't have pipe threads.

Nothing special, just a linear output. I can use an analog (0-5vdc) output, but they are too expensive ($100++) for an experiment. Unless I can find a cheap used source. The only cheap 1 I found can't handle the up to 250° fluid temp it may be subjected to.

Easy then, as others have pointed out, just get a factory oil pressure gauge sender, it should be rated to your temperatures. A FSM should give you the ohm range to correspond pressure readings to.

Not that easy, no one publishes the specs and there are several variations as to how they are wired. I need something that works like a potentiometer and I need access to all the connections like our TPS.

a three lead pressure sender is used as a stock part on GM vehicles.
Trying to find the exact specs on it will be difficult, if not impossible. But it would be cheaper to build a test rig and map it yourself, than it would be to find a scientific pressure sensor that's already mapped for you.

You can also buy a pressure transducer from Racepak. But they're not cheap. $180 for the transducer, or $250 for the transducer plus the signal box.

The problem I am finding with the 2 and 3 wire senders is that 1 or 2 of the wires is for a low oil pressure switch for the warning light. Got to check out several with an ohm meter last night at a parts store. Looks like my only option is a $$$ transducer.
Due to a lack of finances, this project will have to go in the closet with the others.

I want to start in conserving oil. Many people are in search of ways to cut costs on weekday meals, and a crock pot is a great solution. The best meals from a crock pot take just minutes to throw together and use inexpensive ingredients, and crockpots themselves cost less than a meal out. No matter what you like to eat, a crock pot can mean a complete meal with less than 20 minutes work.

What exactly are you trying to do with the sensor? What type of electrical circuit?
I could probably send you an old transmitter from our site but they are 2 wire/24v/4-20ma output.
4-20ma can be converted to 1-5V with just a resistor.
I am guessing shipping would be over $100 anyways though.
