Oil in air tank

Went and looked at a mack dm today. Truck is beuatiful, fits all of our needs. Only problem is the air tanks and lines are getting some oil in them from the compresser. How bad is that to the functions of the air system? Is it safe to drive the truck 200 miles before its fixed? Would it be just a seal rebuild kit for the compresser to fix it?

Just drain the tanks before you make your trip, you will most likely need to install a remanned compressor. You can tear them down and overhaul them, but by the time you find out what you need and get it it would have been cheaper to just swap it out. Once you fix it run several quarts of air line antifreeze through the air system to clean out any oil left in it.
