Unhappy Oh no, crash

I wrecked my truck 2 weeks ago tommorrow and the insurance just decided to total it out. It isn't that bad just all the coolers, front fenders, hood, airbag, radiator support, bumpers and stuff like that. It didn't even bend the fan blades. But they were wanting to put used parts into it to keep from totaling it out.
So it looks like I will be looking for a new " to me" truck. I will be buying it back from the insurance company and either selling or parting it out. Maybe even use some of the parts on my new one.
It sure does suck driving a Furd gasser right now though.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. I hope no one was hurt. If you have some place to store the old one, it would be very handy to have for parts. Who knows maybe you could find a truck with a blown engine and you could put yours in there and....

On a ten year old truck, personally, I wouldn't have a problem with them putting used parts on it as long as they were good if it meant keeping my truck and not going through the hassle of buying another one. I've put plenty of used parts on a lot of vehicles and didn't have any problems. There is an auto salvage yard, three actually, ran by the cancer society near here and my son and I go there all the time for used parts. You pay a buck to get in and pull all the parts you want yourself. All parts are a standard price, a door is $49.95 whether is is from a Pinto or a Cadillac. He got a complete rear end for his 85 Gran Fury drum to drum for $18.00. All he had to do was pull it and wheel it out. We put it in about four years ago and it is still working.
Look around before you part that thing out if you like it a lot, you can find pieces although they are worth more parted out than whole. Good luck.

Dang! I wish we had an auto salvage yard like that up here! Less people = less junked vehicles. Sucks paying $50 - $100 for a new tail light!

Sorry to hear about the misfortune...that's like losing your dog or something.

No doubt about that Welder...I do miss Western NY sometimes for that very reason.
Sorry about your truck Mudcat. Luckily I have not had any moose encounters up here. Anyway, if you decide to part it out, keep me in mind for the EGT & boost guages. Are they the Isspro EV's, or an older style ?

Just thought I'd throw this out there. Your truck sounds like a good canidate for one of those after market truck make overs. I know theres a few companys that sell kits and such like hummer bodies for trucks. Basicly they want a good frame and drive train and just replace the body. There not cheap though.. 8000$ I think? anywho just a thought

I wish I had time to fix it but I don't have this time of the year. I wouldn't mind using used parts to save me money but for the insurance company to keep using used parts is a different story.
I worked a deal with the insurance company and bought the truck back. I sold it tonight to another diesel head that has the time to fix it. So at least the good parts won't go to waste in a scrap yard somewhere. Now to get a different truck.
