General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I ran with a straight pipe for around 6 to 7 months, after that I decided it wasn't LOUD enough.. took me a couple months more before I finally found a vender for the stacks I ended up getting (only 4" - I thought that 5" wouldn't look right - too big)...

I hate to admit it but yes, I fall into that catagory also - hard down on the pedal any chance I can get - inside parking garages that my truck will fit in, under overpasses, especially through tunnels!!!!!!!! and like most of what you all have posted above. I've even gotten to the point now where I don't even bother to see if CHP is around or not when I do it - the truck has been loud for over a year - straight pipe or stacks - and I've not been stopped yet (for that anyway! LOL)!

If you look at my pict's, they're not really that great of shots, I'm still trying to find a custom headache rack that I saw one day, once that's installed, the pipes will be moved up to the front of the bed where they belong (they're at a slight angle to the back right now)...

If anyone has a link to a store or website that sells aluminum custom headache racks, I'd appreciate the help.

My dad was a truck driver for 30 years and I rode along with him many times. Listening to that big diesel go through the gears while the cab lurched from the torque does it for me. Now with my own diesel PU I get that old nostalgic feeling back. Love that clatter and the turbo whine. The diesel smell is great also. Gasoline exhaust makes me nauseous. Straight pipes are definately the way to go. I'm also thinking of removing the noise ring from my turbo intake.

I like to go through parking garages to see how many alarms I can set off.. My wife turns so red in the face. Gotta love that

The tunnels were the only part of my trip to NJ and back that made it bearable...

My fiancee' even smiles a little when I do it...
