New Engine For Dodge in 2006
Re:New Engine For Dodge in 2006
Everybody knows that DC will keep the CTD but they are working on an Alison tranny then they will have the best combo of anybody out there.
There is a bigger version of the CTD that will fit in the Dodge but they use it on the Class A motor homes, they are still working on getting a tranny small enough to fit the Ram that can handle the torque (alison).

I haven't heard anything about Dodge working on getting an Allison transmission in their trucks except for rumors about 2 yrs ago. I seriously doubt you'll see an Allison in their truck anytime soon, if ever. Hence the reason they put out the 48RE.

My guess is the new engine in 2006 will be the MBE900 installed in the 4500 and 5500 dodges. The 4500 and 5500 may be Dodge bodies dropped on a Freightliner chassis at the Freightliner assembly plant.
The MBE900 engine:

The AGS 6 speed tranny that will be mated to the MBE900:

Go to the bottom of:

and download the pdf file for the brochure on the tranny.
346 lbs, gear ratios of 6.70, 3.81, 2.29, 1.48, 1.00, 0.73 OD, and 6.29 reverse. Manual or automatic operation.
The Cummins will probably be available as an option on the 4500 and 5500. ;D
