Sounds like turbo maybe if you see chips on intake side. Just my non mechanic opinion.

Sounds like you have internal problems. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it should still start even if the turbo is dead and the truck would still turn over fine even if you lost an injector.

I was thinking parts from blown turbo made it to valves and pistons causing problems if thats possible.

Turbo, spins freely and looks good from a visual inspection?

I'm assuming that the truck is still under warranty. But if the engine cranks for a short time & then "stops" without having to reverse the engine there is an internal issue. Something completely seperate from injectors or a turbo. If you want to be adventurious, pull the valve cover off & take a look at the valve train to see if you can see something odd when rotating by hand.

P0303 Cylinder #3 Misfire Detected

I'm betting you lost a valve and a piston.

Got Valve cover off, I think Im gunna pull the head. Truck has 186,000 miles so no warranty. If a piston is gone, and damage to head what would be a rough estimate for a repair bill. I can get a 2006 Cummins with 21,000 miles on it for $3800 including turbo computer, everything. Whats the safer way to go? Thank you for the help guys!

Is this a double post? Isn't there a copy in the emergency section?

Grab it, bet you are way over 3800 to fix yours, plus you have spare parts as well.

186K on a 2006 says you need the truck for work, this would give you time to rebuild the original at your leisure.

Looks like dropped Valve!

Pulled head and Number 3 piston was beat apart with 3 Broken Valves!

Sorry about the bad luck but that is a great picture of the carnage!

If the $3800 engine is still available, I would jump on it quickly!!

Was your truck stock? Were you doing anything unusual with it that would or could cause problems?

Im sorry for your bad luck. Im just getting worried because it seems there has been alot of failures lately for seemingly no particular reason. Member RVpro just lost his engine too at 339,000 miles.....just driving it home.

I guess I wonder why some can go a million miles.....and others (with no abuse) cannot make 200K.
