1st. trip done with 2006 3500/2006 Day Dreamer

Just got back from short camping trip up on the NC BlueRidge Parkway. Drove up Hwy. 226 out of Marion which is 4-5 miles of the most crooked road I care to traverse. It is real obvious that Dodge has made some improvements in the 48re. I will be adding an exhaust brake. The tranny does downshift to provide a little braking when you are on a descent. The Tow/haul/OD lockout works very good. I am impressed at the way it changed gears towing this load.

I weighed the rig at Marion fully fueled up and with RV maybe 50% loaded with the good stuff like food and drink and the total weight was 22,680 pounds. This truck can handle a bunch more.... For a year now I have been telling myself I needed a 4500/5500. No way... I think a 6 speed auto tranny might be the only reason I would ever need to trade. After driving my 2004.5 with the TST.. I do think I need a little more HP.
The AirRide hitch is also a great option.

More pictures on my website.

Dantana, Nice rig..looks great!! I too recently upgraded to an '06 and so far I'm extremely impressed with it. Mine's not a dually, but then my 5'er is not as big as your's either. I'm going on my first long trip with the new truck in two weeks (headed to Arizona). There's plenty of grades between here and there to really test her out pulling the 5'er. I'm confident she'll do well though!!

Next trip

I pulled some pretty good grades this weekend and was impressed. The next trip I go out 226 out of Marion I plan to videotape it and put it online. I do think this 2006 needs 50 more HP.

Does this look like a steep grade? The entrance to this campground I do in low 4x4. You can't hardly pass another rig the the other direction.
