K & N OIL filters?
You can get the Fleetguard filters at your local Cummins Parts House Parts & Service Locator, or order them online and have them shipped to your door. www.genosgarage.com
I would check the forum for threads on oil filters it has been beat to death here. I think you will find that the filter you put on is gonna void your warranty the same as the napa filters. You will find the great majority here are using fleetgaurd filters. I getr them from Genos garage off the net and they are sent to my house so I always have a couple on hand. You can also get them from your local cummins shop. check the Dodge TSB's and you will find a list of approved filters for the CTD stick with one of them to guard the warranty.
I wouldn't be concerned about using the K&N whatsoever but would order some Fleetguards for the next time around.
As far as non-approved filters voiding your warranty- if the dealer wants to get picky so does non-dealer oil changes.

K&N oil filters are top quality made by Champion Labs, who also make AC Delco filters. AC Delco is on the "approved" list for the ISB. Champion also makes the Bosch premium, STP, Mobil 1, and the Walmart Supertech oil filters. I've already run the Mobil 1 on mine, and the oil report showed insolubles(soot) at only 0.3% on a nearly 14,000 mile oil change interval, and all wear metals were well below average.
thanks for the answers. the only chance i had to do the oil change was yesterday and it had to get done. the fram just wasn't an option. sounds like, warranty issues aside, the K&N is a good unit which is good to know for future reference. of course, my truck is 11 years old so i don't have warranty issues.

Guys I bought one cause I really needed a filter & they were out of stock & it almost ruined my truck, tons on blue & white smoke & it would not rev past 1500 rpm & it shook like crazy, I had a thread in here about it a while ago, I put my old filter back in & it was fine, I don't know if it was just a defect but I am not going to try one again.... on a Diesel..

I to would not be worried about the K&N oil filter. I have not used one on the truck, but I use them on the quads and really like the way they are made. Geno's is a great place for filters. Also Amsoil makes a good filter and if you like you can send away for some literature on them.
after a day and a half i can report there's absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happening with my truck. oil pressure has been chronically low (according to the gauge) since i got her, and the gauge is reading the same. no smoke. no funny noises. no nothing.

FWIW - after 500+ miles, the oil still looks purdy.
