Im Impressed.

I was at work today, and a guy came in with a brand spanking new 06 Duramax. Had about 800 miles on it. We put a set of Moto Metal wheels on it w/ some Wild Country XTX's. Anyways, after I buttoned everything up(and trimmed his inner air damm so the tires wouldn't rub) with his permission of course. I drove it out front to drop it off to him. I complemented him on his truck being very nice, he said "wanna drive it"? I was in shock but you know what I said.

Anyways, im heading out on the main stretch of road and he said step on it, I was a little worried it only had 800 miles, so I romped it. To my utter disbeleif this truck was QUICK. It jumped to 75 in no time and it pulled HARD. It pulled about as hard as my pops truck w/ a intake, exaust & chip. I sortive wanted to buy one after I got done driving it.

I know this thread is pointless but I just wanted to share with you all my experience in a Chevy. Im headed out to the dealer tommorow to look at a DMax. SIKE!

I'll tell you one thing, i'd hate be next to one of those at a stop light.

All I hear about Chevy's is the problems they are having with the motors, injectors, cooling, turbos, hard to work on, ect. I'm sure they are quick, but at what cost? How long to they last? What is the resale? Are you buying a proven motor or are you a guinea pig?

If after all that you still want one, knock yourself out.

I agree. I think they're a really nice truck. My brother-in-law has an 06 with about 3k miles on it now and he gave me a ride....I was really impressed too. Will roll the tires with ease. Of course I've never ridden in a 2500 CTD w/auto so I don't know how it would compare.

Your probly more then correct. I also probly just caused the guy a world of problems by romping his motor at 800 miles, better him then me I always say.

It was a fun 5 minutes though. I haven't realy heard anything bad about the new Dmax's, then again I haven't followed them like I do my Cummins.

I will admit one thing, when I cranked it up it was QUIET. Sounded like a electric hybrid vehicle. I like my Diesels loud and clanky. Let's me know somethings there.

I owned a duramax and I will agree that they are fast. The thing that I found is they run like a striped Edit ape untill you hook a load on them, then they fall flat on there face. That's why I own a ctd. Now when I hook a load on the back of the ctd. It will yank the rear bumper off.

I recon they fall on their face due to the V8 having no low end TQ?

If you have the big 3 lined up w/ basic mods. Same intake, chip, & exaust. What would pull the highest numbers, the Chevy?

A friend of mine has an 05 Ditymax 1 Ton Dulley, Allison Auto. He retired from GM. I retired from DC, and I have (See Sig.) He left on vacation pulling a 30ft 5th wheel. Got 1 1/2 hr. down the road, and his guages went heywire. Pulled off and shut it down. When he went to start it up, it was a no-go. Called the dealer, and they sent a wrecker. When the wrecker got there, they started it back up and he drove it back home. Parked the camper, took the truck to the dealer, and went home. A few days later the truck was repaired. He got in his Impala and left for Fla. Kinda spoiled his vacation plans. This guy is always bragging about what he has that is newer, bigger, and better than what you got. Well a little humble pie is good for the soul. I ask, when he called and told me he was down, if he wanted me to come pull the camper home for him. Now that would have added insult to injury. I love my CTD more and more.

My buddy drove a new 06 dmax with the new 6 spd auto. He said when he stomped it it spun the tires through first and then barked them going into 2nd. I can't wait to play with one.
