how fast does your truck go?
im more worried about getting a ticket. ive been pulled over a few times for doing over 100 but only recieved tickets in the 90ish range. those get expensive!! but ive been ticket free for 2 years now and i kinda like that...so does my insurance co.

I had my 2002 up as high as 110-115 ish once or twice. I really start worrying about the tires at that point. Actually I worry about them above 90. A tire failure at those kind of speeds would probably be very interesting, but only briefly before you died. It still had plenty of pull left. Now that I'm married and have a baby on the way, going that fast doesn't seem as interesting. Maybe when I'm old and don't care anymore, I'll try it again. Of course, by then, the highways will have sensors that check your speed everywhere and we'll get tickets automatically in the mail.

Mine levels out at 110mph. Waiting on Smarty to be able to remove top speed limiter. Definitely could go faster. I have only topped it out a couple of times on very isolated Interstate flat straight stretches.
I have been to 106mph in 4wd at the track a few times.

I keep thinking my BFG 285s are not safe past about 85 or so. Maybe they will not blow til over 100. Are you fast guys running tires with a higher rating, or is sit just me?

back home, on hwy90, flat, very few intersecting roads between beaumont, and nome. i had it at 120, and shed still kept pulling. a man at my old church, he looks and acts just like john wayne, God rest his soul, bout a 98 chevy half ton, 350. this was back in 98. he took it oiut to hwy90 and decided to see how fast he could get it up too. mind you this guy is a rancher, and owned his own road construction company, very crusty. anyhoo got up to about 95-98, and she shut down on him. he immediately turned around and went back to the dealership, and lost his religon. he couldnt believe! another time on the same road, i was in my ole 91 chevy 1ton, 3.73 rears, and 4spd man. i was screaming at 80 when i buddy flew up behind me in his mack dump w/ his pup trailer, he was empty, but i floored it to about 90, moved over , and he passed me like i was standing still. i thought it was pretty cool, but that was back in high school. anyhoo........
Need For Speed
The BMW 3.0 liter I-6 gasoline engine has a red line at 7000 rpms. That inline six has twin turbochargers and produces 300+ HP at 5400? rpm and 300 ft-lbs at 1800? rpm. The 3200? pound car can handle high speed maneouvers on the highway safely, our trucks can't. I can do 90 to 100 mph in our 2wd GMC 1500 with a V configured gasoline engine and feel safe, but in my Dodge with no load 90 mph down a hill is fast enough for me and on the level 70 mph is fast enough. When loaded or pulling a trailer I like to keep between 50 and 60 mph depending on the conditions. Above 60 mph in a heavy loaded unit an emergency stop may not turn out the way you want when an unexpected situation presents itself for your consideration. Tires get too hot during high velocity rotation. I will get a BMW for fast road trips when I have enough money to pay for the speeding tickets.
