how fast does your 24v idle and how do you adjust it?
my truck idles at 850rpm...seems fast but I am not sure where it should be set or how to adjust it. My dads 12v seems to idle much slower, but I have not had chance to ask him where it is set.
I believe that the idle speed is controlled by the ECM as part of the emission's package. My 98.5 has idled at 850 rpm since it was new. 100,000 miles later it still does. If it fluctuates I'd I'd be taking a hard look at the lift pump or fuel filter. The 12V units could be adjusted but not ours.
ah...my pops actually said he thought they always souinded like they idled a little higher. No fluctuation, so I assume its all normal. Like I said it just sounded fast in comparison to his. Thanks
I put a Genysis scanner on my 2000, it idled at 800 +- 2 rpm. The computer does a very good job of controlling this. I watched it for a long time. Maybe your Dad's has slipped some. As was said above the 12V are adjustable.

I don't know much about 24 valves but a friend who does tells me if you remove the plastic cover over the VP there is a torx head screw that adjusts the idle. I know she turned her idle down here so it must work.
