This is what scares me too and we might want to cross our fingers that the Ram won't develop something similar. The more they choke these motors down,,,,, the more problems everyone is going to have,,, one way or another.
I guess we ought to hold on to the old rigs till they force them off the road.

i agree that it is bad for ford but does anyone think since the emissions equipment is on ALL 07 rigs that Dodge and GM may have similar issues? Ford is the first to really get any of their new rigs to market so we may be seing a side effect of this new emssions crap.

Arrow UPDATE from Ford on the issue:

As posted on Pickuptruck.com:

Maybe some of the "millions of miles of testing" should have been done in Canada....

OK....I was wondering about the cut and paste...seems OK on other forums, never a problem with it, but not here eh? Anyway, Ford has talked about the issue on "the other site" I posted a link to. If you read up there, you'll be informed (if you care to know the facts).

I'd like a 68RFE, but now I'm really glad I bought my 2006. I have a feeling that these particulate traps are simply going to be unworkable at some point, at least in their current form. If these things start killing people or burning down forests and those problems can't be solved, then the industry may have to go to the government and convince them that these things just don't work.

Spunbearing you and a couple others on here should be on Jay Leno my sides are hurting

But seriously do you think the boys over at the blue oval are feeling the HEAT YET

Al Gore will be going to congress to testify that ford should cease production of the SD/6.4 before we all die from global warming

Our local Ford dealers service manager is a friend of mine and while chatting with him, I asked if they had gotten in a 6.4 that I could look at yet.
He said in no uncertain terms that they were not about to order on in for stock, and were going to try and talk any prospective customers out of one.

He also said he and the mechanic had just gotten back from the 6.4 School. They are already having Injector issues. He told me to pull an Injector that they had to pull the cab???????????

His opinion is this will be the death knell for their trucks, if not all of Ford, his words, not mine.

Man! I surely hope DC and Cummins don't have this kind of hell with their DPF's!!!

Here's another thought......

If the DPF is SOOOOO hot that its throwing flames....how hot is the combustion chambers and the turbo's????????????

So that would mean on a 6.4L the safe EGT is say....2500 degrees....now is that pre or post turbo

If I could only order a Ford truck with a 5.9L with the 68RFE, with the 6.7L Variable turbo/exhaust brake, straight piped

I agree this is very bad news for the entire industry and I feel for the poor guys that sink a bunch of money into one of those nightmares. We can all laugh and make fun of the issues because we don't own one, but when it comes right down to it these poor guys are no different than any of us.

You buy a product like a new truck, you can only hope these things don't happen to you. Remember that most of the people out there purchasing these products do not have the knowledge about things like this.....I truly feel sorry for anyone that gets stuck with a problem truck, regardless who's logo is on the tailgate.

Have to agree some mighty fine one liners coming out of this fiasco .......... the Al Gore comment is my favorite so far !!!

Interesting that FORD is dealing with a leaky injector problem by reflashing them ECM? Isn't that like the little Dutch boy who put his finger in the crack in the dyke to stop the leak? Why wouldn't FORD want to actually FIX the leaky injectors?

Larry,
I agree with you........ But when buying something as expensive as a Diesel Truck.... you had better do your homework.......
Also... it's not like the whole truck world dose not know the trouble Ford has been having.... All a buyer would have to do is ask.....
Help me with the spelling......... Caveat Emptor....?

I do agree with you somewhat Larry but with any large purchase such as a truck , car , house , etc you better do your home work or you may get burned (not just by the tailpipe) With the past history of trouble with the 6.0's their is no excuse for ford to be putting this big of a mess into production they certainly did not do their home work also how can you justify building a truck that you have to lift the cab off of the frame to repair injectors, heads, gaskets thats just insane!!

By the way you are doing a fine job with this site there is none better and now the product giveaways wow! You are truly TOP notch!!! Thanks
