Fords on Fire
Ford is taking another beating also...
My cousin who follows all the fleet stuff real close was informed that the Ford will no longer make ambulance/Van chassis.. The reason why you see all the ambulances are fords is because they are the only ones making a pass through Van/Box.. It is only available in a Diesel (no gas engines). The 6.4 will not fit and runs to hot to put in a van chassis.. They were going to continue with the 6.0 engine and pay the emissions fines on each vehicle just to keep the ambulance business.. BUT.. International told them to take a flying leap.. we may have to produce the 6.4 liter for you but nothing says we have to produce the 6.0 and we don't want to make that engine any more...
Now the only option is to buy a GM Kodiak with a pass through cab for the ambulances.. at a substantial increased cost...

10,000,000 miles of proven reliability in real life situations, 600 trucks. The thing they did'nt tell us was that the 10,000,000 really was'nt miles it was 10,000,000 beers in the middle of the proving grounds roasting marshmellows and weenies on the tailpipe! 600? 600 campfires started without using matches or lighters.
Heck ya, the situation is funny - might as well be honest and admit it. Especially after the 6.0L fiasco. The problem between the situation and affected person(s) is not. Especially if it were any on of us.
I am just happy to say that work wasn't able to talk me into one those new diesels the last time I was down to head office - just got my '07 company Ford in Sept. We must have twenty or so on the road by now. I'll let you know if I hear anything from them - we usually drive where fire dept.'s are not close and in the bushes. I wonder how Ford will feel have to pay for forest fire fighting bills.
In all seriousness that's what concerns me. It's not bad enough that Ford has all of these recalls but can you imagine what will happen if fires are started that burn down peoples homes and maybe even potentially take lives? Definately the final nail in Fords coffin if that happens. Kind of scary that they think that a software change is adequate.
Should have kept the 7.3.Years back all I saw was powerstrokes on the road for the most part, now I see rams everywhere.I go to a Dodge dealer and see powerstrokes on the used lot, more than ever before, new and older. It's just stupid to discontinue a good engine just to keep up with HP and Torque wars. The 7.3 is not the engine the cummins is but they were still a pretty good engine for a diesel v8.Spooler is right about money being the driving force and not quality. This has been going on for years. They kept jacking around with the powerstroke and they got the hp they wanted but the quality suffered. The cummins has evolved like other engines but it is still basically the same(5.9 that is) straight 6 and simple compared to the V8's.I could care less If my diesel has the most hp and torque if it does what I need it to do.They could have spiced up the 7.3 and had a good truck for years.I do feel bad for these guys that buy Ford and have to deal with this crap.If you do your research before you buy a diesel truck you will driving a RAM/Cummins. They say on the commercial for dodge trucks,"The Legendary Cummins",Spooler said quality,it's still there. It's in a DODGE.
Great now I can look forward to seeing a superduty pulling off on the shoulder of a two lane highway into the grass with his overheating DPF, and Burning me out
I am glad Ford is on top of the issue
You think they would put decals on the truck that says Stay Back 50 Feet

Okay, one more time, and I sure hope it's finally gotten this time around. The 7.3L Powerstroke was discontinued as it would have cost too much to meet new emission regulations. It was decided that to build an entirely new engine platform would be more cost-effective in the long run. Now, we all are aware it probably was not, as the 6.0 proved to be one of the most unreliable engines ever put on American roads. But the reason for the change happend, ahem, due to the real reason for all these troubles in the first place. The REGULATIONS KEEP CHANGING. If you don't like it, why haven't some of you done something about it...instead of blaming business people and engineers. Call your legislaters and ask for a change - too late now...!
Sorry for the rant, it's affects me a bit.
Well Ford owners allways wanted FIRE breathing dragons, now they have one. My two friends of mine just HAD to go buy them. Two brand new F450, loaded to the hilt 4X4 trucks. The just HAD TO HAVE that new twin turbo set up. I told them that I could put twins on their Dodges for FAR less than $62,000.00 a truck! I just took them a print out of the recall. These guys are never going to belive me since I tried my best to talk them out of those trucks in the first place. These trucks are less than a week old too.
If you read the sticker on the trucks, at the dealer here the 6.4 and the auto is over $10K alone. I have not heard anything about the same type of issues with the CTD yet and there are a few mechanic trucks around now with the new Aisin/6.7 C&C's.. The CTD tail pipe isn't blue or changed shape or have any of the shrouding that the Ford or Chevies have. There are warnings out for the 6.6 DM with high temps on the exhaust being a hazard, but I hope its nothing like whats happening to Ford.
I would be scared for my kids safety. They are always running around the truck when I am loading up or we are out camping.. If one of my kids got burned just by walking by the truck, I would drive it through the front window of the dealer!!!
