cummins weight

Was just curious as to the weight of the cummins enging.How would that compare to a ford v-10. Looking at throwing one in my Excursion.Was wondering about the weight on front axles. Thanks for any replys. Todd

The owners manual lists it as 1060(ish).

The diesel is most likely heavier, but your in luck. The Excursion was available with the Powerstroke so you could just upgrade the front springs if you needed to and you'd be all set! Just check the front axle rating which i'm sure is more than enough. Can't wait to see it!

Does anyone know what a PSD weighs? Especially the 7.3, you know the good one.

About the same as the Cummins......both are heavy.

There were some guys at The Diesel Stop that were saying that the extra weight of the ford trucks was due to the PSD. Anyone know the PSD weight?

I would love to do that myself (if I had an excursion and an extra Cummins...), I think that would be a very cool set up. Though the excursion is a tad too big for me, think its possible to squeze one in an expidition?

7.3 is definitely better than the 6.uh-0. But that's not saying much.

The link I posted above doesn't have the PSD weights...but in looking around I saw 1040 lbs...which is right about the same as the cummins for weight.
