Yep, dump trips can be costly. I took a load to the dump with a dump truck single axle 5spd 2 range. Didnt quite back close enough to clear the dump bin, so the guys behind were waving me back "moan back a little!!!" and it is on a slope (great ). So sure enough the tires spun a little and picked up a nice 2" screw in the inner right rear. A 30 min trip turned into a 2hr trip to the shop to get "plugged".

More trouble than they're worth when you're their gas supplier. One of the trucks at my job goes to three different scrap yards, that truck never goes more than 2 weeks without a hole in a tire.

I used to make regular dump runs when I lived in MT. Trouble is, they cost me more in repaired tires than just burning the garbage!

I'm going to try and get the foglight from a wrecker. (Bulb is still working, so I'll keep it as a spare.) As soon as I get a light, 3-M protective film is going on. (I'd better not pick up anything in a tire at the wrecker!! )

Smile dumpster bashing

10-4 on the nails and screws. tired of it.

Here is how to dump at your local dumpster...trust me it works.
first you need a disguise....a poka dot hat from a welder supply works great..next an old pair of boots. You need to have some white paint simulating drywall dropping on them. white paint works ok. Next a red plaid shirt with a few rips and the collar turned up hanging out of course. ripped faded blue jeans with white paint spots completes the disguise.
Next you back you filled truck right up to dumpster like you owned it, leave it running and unload your junk. No need to wave at the neighbors they won't recognize you anyway. Be sure you throw a couple of Mac bags and soda bottles out too. If they miss it's ok don't pick them up...ever seen the const workers pick up stuff?? When done jump in your truck spit out the window a couple times and be on your way. Works every time.

MT dump runs made easy: Instead of backing up to the dumpster (usually on a hill covered in broken glass), pull in where the rolloff trucks do. Leave the truck running, get into the bed and flip the bags up into the dumpster. Make sure the cover is off, unless you want your bags coming back at you.

First check to see if there's any bears in the dumpster. I've had the tar scared out me a couple times when throwing trash in in the dark and having a couple bears come popping out.

Pistol- the trailers not that great, and believe it or not my brother said to take it back to the dump and leave it there!! Well- I told him NO D__N DUMP!!! (He phoned me tonight, and he's ordered a rear bumper for his '03. Poor guy backed into a parking lot post and he can't have a scratch or dent, so it's $700 and some bucks.) I thought my fog light at $175 (Canadian) was a lot, but I found a jobber part for $109. So now my question is- besides 3M film does anyone have a different idea for protectors? They want $45- $50 per light to put on 3M!
