4bt exhaust pipe

I need to make an exhaust pipe for my 4bt swap. I was thinking of making a short down pipe and getting it coated, then use a short piece of flex hose to connect to the rest of the exhaust system.
Will regular exhaust tubing stand up to the heat from the turbo or should I use something else? Stainless steel maybe?
Thanks.

I don't think you will have a prob making the down pipe out of reg exhaust pipe.
But I would try to make something work with out the plex.

Because the 4bt shakes I thought I'd use a short length of flex between the down pipe and the rest of the exhaust system.

Diesels are very easy on exhaust systems, the exhaust is cool and dry compared to a gasser. When I bought my truck 2 years ago, the factory exhaust was still in fine shape. Any exhaust tubing will hold up fine, but the less flex pipe you have to use the better the system will flow.

That is what i was thinking on the Flex pipe. I really don't think it shakes anymore than the v6 that was in the Dakota. And if it does shake it will shake the whole truck.

my truck has 41" of flex pipe, and I've yet to run into another diesel truck that I couldn't pull away from... Cummins, Powerhoax, or Durapad...

not saying that there aren't PLENTY of more powerful trucks out there, just saying that there is NOTHING wrong with flex pipe... every semi on earth runs it... and if you've ever looked inside a length of flex pipe that's been run for a while, you'd understand why it doesn't hurt...

and yes, I've run with different lengths of flex pipe from 8" to 41"... haven't seen any difference in power, EGT's, etc.
