Flex pipe for straight pipe

I want to replace my MBRP muffler with a piece of flex pipe to see if I like it. I just want alittle more "noise"..... Is this do-able or would it be better to put in a piece of pipe? How much can I expect to pay for a piece of flex pipe approx. 2 1/2 ft. long? any info would be appreciated...I just want to be able replace the muffler if I dont like it. I tow alot and dont know how bad the drone will be..

If you did do this, I wouldn't leave on for very long. Replace your muffler, take it out and see what it sounds like in city, hwy and towing, then promptly replace it with a straight pipe or muffler.

I just purchased flew pipe for my truck, approx 9 bucks a foot.

Just curious, why wouldnt you leave it on for very long? The stuff is used on big rigs along with guys running stacks for many miles and seems to hold up just fine.

If you just run the flex pipe and don't anchor the remaining solid sections (since you no longer have the mount point on the muffler, get ready for more drone.

Had a few friends straight pipe their rigs with flex pipe and they ended up with a nasty drone. Replaced the flex with solid and the drone disappeared. Even with the solid pipe, you have to make sure you support everything well. It's the long sections of unsupported pipe that allow the resonance that causes the "drone".

You could weld angle iron to the pipe and flex, but that kinda defeats the ease of removal now don't it. The angle iron trick seems to work iirc.
